No Design? How to Create Your Custom Sportswear Design
You have an idea for a custom jersey or team uniform, but you do not have a professional design file. Maybe you only have your team logo, a few colors, a hand-drawn sketch, a reference photo, or simply an idea in your mind.

Can you still create your own custom sportswear?
Yes. You do not need to be a graphic designer or have finished artwork before starting a custom sportswear project with Vimost Sports.
If you can explain what you want and provide the materials you already have, our design team can help turn your concept into a custom sportswear design that can be reviewed, adjusted and prepared for production.
This guide explains what you should send us, how our design process works, why high-quality artwork matters, and what happens after you approve the final design.
I Have an Idea, but No Sportswear Design. Can You Help?
Yes. Many customers contact us before they have a finished jersey or uniform design.
You might have:
- A team or company logo
- Your preferred colors
- A simple hand-drawn sketch
- A photo of a style you like
- An old team uniform you want to update
- Several reference images
- Sponsor logos
- A general concept but no finished artwork
These materials can be enough to start a conversation about your project.
Tell us what product you want to make, how you imagine it should look, what colors you prefer and which design elements are important. Our design team can use this information to prepare a visual mockup for your review.
If you are still unsure about the complete ordering process, see our How to Order Custom Sportswear guide.
What Should I Send to Start a Custom Sportswear Design?
The more useful information you provide at the beginning, the easier it is for our designers to understand your idea.
You do not need to prepare everything on the list below, but these materials can help.
1. Your Logo
If your jersey, uniform or apparel needs a team, club, company or brand logo, send us the best-quality version you have.
Whenever possible, we prefer original vector artwork such as:
- AI — Adobe Illustrator
- EPS — Encapsulated PostScript
- PDF — preferably containing vector artwork
- CDR — CorelDRAW
- SVG — Scalable Vector Graphics
If you do not have a vector file, send us the highest-resolution PNG or JPG available and we can check whether it is suitable for the required print size.
Avoid sending a tiny screenshot, compressed social-media image or blurry logo if a better original file is available.
2. Your Design Idea or Sketch
Your concept does not need to look professional.
A hand-drawn sketch can be useful if it shows where you want colors, stripes, logos or other design elements. You can also mark areas with notes such as “logo here,” “black sleeves,” “red side panel” or “sponsor on the back.”
The purpose of the sketch is not to show us perfect artwork. It is simply a way to communicate your idea to our designers.
3. Reference Images
If you have seen a jersey style, color layout, collar or pattern that gives us a better idea of what you want, you can send reference images.
References help communicate your preferred direction, but the final artwork should be developed around your own team, club or brand identity rather than simply copying another organization’s protected design or logo.
4. Your Colors
Tell us the colors you want to use. If your team or company already has official brand colors, please send the relevant color references when possible.
Pantone, CMYK, RGB or HEX references can help communicate the intended color direction. However, colors displayed on a phone or computer monitor can look different when printed on fabric.
For more information, read our Custom Sportswear Color Guide.
5. Names, Numbers and Sponsor Logos
If the design includes player names, numbers, sponsor logos, gamertags or other personalized information, tell us where you want these elements to appear.
For team orders, it is helpful to organize the final names, numbers and sizes in a clear roster before production.
You can use our Custom Sportswear Size Guide when preparing sizing information for your team.
Why Are Vector Files Better for Custom Sportswear Design?
One of the most important things you can do to improve the quality of your custom sportswear artwork is to provide the original logo or graphic files whenever they are available.
Vector files are especially useful because the artwork can be enlarged, reduced and repositioned without the same loss of image quality that can occur with a small raster image.
This is important when the same logo may appear in several different sizes — for example, a small chest logo, a large front graphic, a sleeve logo and a sponsor mark.
Original AI, EPS, vector PDF, CDR or SVG files also make it easier for our designers to work accurately with shapes, colors and artwork placement.
A high-resolution PNG or JPG may still be usable, but the quality depends on the original resolution and the required print size.
If you have the original artwork, please send it instead of a screenshot of the artwork.
How Does Vimost Turn My Idea Into a Custom Sportswear Design?
Once we understand your product requirements and receive your available artwork, our design team can begin preparing the design.
Step 1: Tell Us What You Want to Make
Start by telling us the product type. For example:
- Ice hockey jersey
- Baseball uniform
- Basketball jersey
- Soccer kit
- Rugby jersey
- Esports jersey
- Billiards jersey
- Board game jersey
- Custom T-shirt or polo
- Hoodie, jacket or other team apparel
Also provide your estimated quantity, delivery country and any important event or deadline.
Step 2: Send Your Logo, Concept and References
Send us whatever useful design information you already have.
This might be a professional AI file, or it might simply be a logo, a rough sketch and two reference photos. Our team will review the materials and determine what can be used to prepare the design.
Step 3: We Prepare a Design Mockup
Our designers use your information to create a visual mockup based on the selected product and your design direction.
The mockup allows you to review the overall appearance before production.
Depending on the project, it may show elements such as:
- Front and back layout
- Team colors
- Logo placement
- Player names and numbers
- Sponsor placement
- Patterns and graphics
- Collar and sleeve details
- Other product-specific design elements
Step 4: Review and Request Adjustments
Review the mockup carefully and tell us what you would like to change.
For example:
- Make the logo larger
- Move the sponsor logo
- Change a color
- Adjust a stripe
- Use a different collar
- Change the number style
- Adjust the pattern
The goal is to confirm the design before production begins.
Step 5: Approve the Final Design
Once you are satisfied with the design, please check the final details carefully.
Before approval, confirm:
- Logo and sponsor artwork
- Colors
- Spelling
- Player names
- Numbers
- Sizes
- Quantities
- Product style
- Artwork placement
Production should begin only after the required order and design details have been confirmed.
Why Do We Provide Design Previews as Images?
Creating a custom sportswear design requires real design work. Our designers may need to prepare layouts, rebuild elements, position logos, create patterns, adjust colors and revise the artwork several times before a customer approves the final result.
To protect this design work, the design mockups provided for customer review are normally supplied as preview images.
The editable production artwork and original vector working files created by Vimost Sports are retained by our design team and are not automatically provided as part of the design preview process.
This policy exists because editable artwork represents additional design work and production preparation. In the past, we have spent significant time developing custom designs only for the editable source artwork to be taken to another manufacturer for production.
Providing preview images allows customers to review the design, request changes and approve the appearance while also protecting the time and creative work invested by our design team.
If your project requires special artwork ownership, editable source files or another specific arrangement, please discuss this with us before the design work begins so the requirements can be reviewed separately.
Can I Order a Sample After I Approve the Design?
Yes. Depending on the project and order arrangement, an approved design can move forward to sample production before bulk production.
A physical sample can be especially useful when you want to evaluate the garment construction, fabric, sizing, print appearance or overall result before confirming a larger order.
Fabric choice can also affect comfort, stretch, garment structure and print appearance. If you are unsure which material is suitable, see our Custom Sportswear Fabric Guide.
What If I Do Not Know Which Fabric, Size or Printing Method to Choose?
You do not need to make every technical decision before contacting us.
Tell us what product you want to make, who will use it and what you expect from the garment. Our team can discuss suitable options based on the project.
Vimost Sports has prepared several guides to help customers make these decisions:
- Fabric Guide — understand fabric weight, stretch, breathability and product use.
- Size Guide — prepare team sizing information.
- Color Guide — understand color references and fabric color differences.
- Sublimation Guide — learn how full-color sublimated sportswear is produced.
- How to Order — see the complete process from inquiry to production and shipping.
You can also browse our Custom Sportswear Guides for more practical information about planning a custom teamwear project.
What Should I Prepare Before Contacting Vimost Sports?
If you want us to help develop your sportswear design, start with whatever information you already have.
A useful first inquiry may include:
- The product you want to make
- Your team, club or brand logo
- Original vector logo files if available
- Preferred colors
- A sketch or design concept
- Reference images
- Sponsor logos
- Estimated quantity
- Approximate size requirements
- Delivery country
- Required delivery date or event date
You do not need a finished design to start.
If you have a logo and an idea, that may already be enough for our team to understand the direction of your project.
Start With an Idea. We Can Help Turn It Into Sportswear.
Not having a professional design file should not stop you from creating your own team uniform or custom apparel.
Some customers come to us with complete vector artwork. Others come with a logo, a few colors and a rough idea. Both can be starting points.
The most important thing is to communicate what you want as clearly as possible and provide the best artwork files available. From there, our design team can help prepare a custom sportswear mockup, work with you on revisions and move the approved design toward sample or production.
If you already have an idea for your next custom sportswear project, contact Vimost Sports and send us your logo, concept or sketch. We can review your information and discuss the next step.
